Since the age of nineteen, I have been working in the fashion industry, starting with studying fashion design at the London College of Fashion. I went on to work in many different departments in retail, such as Buying and Shoot Production. It wasn’t until the pandemic hit that I started to think about developing my skills in another area. I have had always been interested in coding and this seemed like a perfect opportunity to start. I began researching coding boot camps and found that SheCodes was the best fit for my learning style and would fit in around my current job.
I always thought if I wanted to change my career, I would have to go back to university, so finding out that most people in the tech industry did not go to university to study tech made me realise that I did not need to either. As soon as I started learning to code, I knew this was the correct decision for me because I enjoyed every second of it. Even when I got stuck in areas, I loved the challenge of trying to solve the problem and the achievement I felt when I worked something out on my own from outside the course. To have started this course not knowing anything to be at the level I am now is an incredible achievement. There is now no doubt in my mind that this the career I should be pursuing.
